What an Israeli Notary Can Do for You
Under Israeli law, only a lawyer with at least 10 years of experience who has passed the Ministry of Justice examination can act as a notary. Attorney Dor Rigler is a licensed notary authorized to provide the following services:
Notarized Certifications (Ishur Notaryoni)
Official certification of signatures, identity, and the authenticity of copies — the foundation of most notary services.
Certified Translations
Legally binding translations of documents between Hebrew, English, and other languages, with the notary’s seal certifying the translation’s accuracy. Commonly required for: birth certificates, marriage certificates, academic diplomas, court judgments, and corporate documents.
Apostille Services
Preparation and authentication of documents for use in countries that are members of the Hague Apostille Convention (most of Europe, US, UK, Canada, Australia, and others). We handle both incoming apostilles (foreign documents to be used in Israel) and outgoing apostilles (Israeli documents for use abroad).
Notarized Power of Attorney
Drafting and certifying power of attorney documents — essential for handling real estate transactions, bank accounts, or legal proceedings in Israel when you cannot be physically present. We regularly prepare powers of attorney for clients abroad to authorize Israeli representatives to act on their behalf.
Life Certificates
Notarized "proof of life" certificates required by foreign pension funds and social security administrations (commonly needed by US Social Security recipients living in Israel).
Notarized Wills
Preparation and certification of wills in accordance with Israeli Succession Law, including bilingual wills for clients with assets in multiple countries.
Who Uses Our Notary Services
- New Olim needing certified translations of foreign documents (birth certificates, diplomas, marriage records) for Misrad Hapnim, the Population Authority, or academic institutions
- Israelis living abroad who need documents apostilled for use in their country of residence
- Foreign investors requiring notarized power of attorney to complete Israeli real estate purchases remotely
- US citizens in Israel needing notarized Social Security life certificates
- International couples preparing documents for foreign marriage registrations
- Companies needing notarized corporate documents for cross-border transactions
The Process
- Initial consultation — we confirm exactly what document and what certification type the receiving authority requires
- Document preparation — for translations, the source document is reviewed; for power of attorney, we draft the text
- In-person signing at our Netanya office (Israeli law requires physical presence for notary certification)
- Apostille handling — if needed, we handle the apostille at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or at the relevant court
- Delivery — certified documents can be collected in person, sent by registered mail, or scanned and emailed
Important Notes
Physical presence is required. Unlike some countries, Israeli law requires the person to sign the document in the physical presence of the notary. We cannot notarize documents remotely by video. If you are abroad, you will need to use a notary in your country and then apostille the document for use in Israel.
Official fees are set by law. Notary fees in Israel are regulated by the Notary Regulations and are identical at every notary office. There is no negotiation on the statutory fees themselves.
